The Fiio X3 Thread.

I noticed you extracted the zip file but did you do this in a location where there was an existing 'X3.fw' file? If so is the new (3.3) FW named something like 'X3.fw (1)"?

The name needs to be explicitly X3.fw

Just guessing here.

The file is specifically X3.fw and not in a folder.

Have you tried putting some music files on the card to see if the X3 is reading the card? Also have you tried doing a hard reset of the X3 itself?

If you still can't get it working, try contacting Fiio. Supposedly there is a way to flash the fw from a computer.

I sent their support department an email, they directed me to the instructions that I have already been following.

Thank you for your mail and support to FiiO!
1. Are you sure that the x3.fw firmware file has already been loaded to the root directory of the TF card? Kindly be noted that, the X3 will not recognize the firmware file if x3.fw is stored in the certain folder.
2. After loading the firmware file, pls turn off the unit firstly.
3. Here is the  intruction to guide how to upgrade the X3:

Have a nice day!

Silly thought about your problems, but is your card formatted FAT32?  I believe if it happens to be exFat it will not read.  Pardon if I missed this advice earlier in the thread and am repeating the thought.  I just feel for your problem.  Frustrating!

Also, format it with the X3. Not all FAT32 formatting software write the proper allocation unit size.

It was formatted with the X3.

Is it possible you overwrote your file with the older one on your computer, and so it's actually updating to the same old one?

I don't think so, I've downloaded the firmware twice to make sure.
