My X3 was stolen yesterday :c (the theives probably don't even know how to use it, and it was out of battery), however if I by some chance ever see it for sale locally or online, is there a way to prove it was mine? I've registered my X3 on Fiio.net already, so is there a way to check for the security code in the player itself? I don't want to buy an X1 or DX50 to replace my X3, but I'm afraid I might have to. Hopefully I can find the crooks. They live close to me though which is all I know.

Well I was at work, my X3 was in my bag as it was out of battery, so I took the MicroSD out and popped it into my phone. The bag was about 10 meters away from me behind me, and I turned for a few minutes, and when I go back to get a snack I notice my bag was missing and my jacket had been searched. The only things in my bag was some lotion, snacks, water, and my X3. I found the bag in an alley later with the items thrown around, with everything there except my X3 :frowning2:

Does anyone also know if removing the MicroSD with an updated firmware would revert it to the original firmware in Chinese? Hopefully those sacks of Schiit aren't able to use it at all. I might post a sign locally saying *Lost music player, $125 reward*, then hopefully find the ********. I have a bunch of video clips and pictures of my tracing and following the footsteps (thank god for snow), however after an hour of following the footsteps, they essentially faded away when I got to a higher traffic area and it became too dark to keep looking.

That really sucks man. Unfortunately it wont revert to the default settings.
Damn I should really stop leaving my x3 and IEM's on my desk all the time.

I cannot seem to update the firmware on my X3 to the new version. I bought a dedicated Sandisk microCD card (8gb), formatted it with the X3, extracted the X3.fw file to the card, inserted it, pressed the menu and power button. I get the message "file not found".

Any suggestions?

X3.fw is on the root of the SD card, correct?

I noticed you extracted the zip file but did you do this in a location where there was an existing 'X3.fw' file? If so is the new (3.3) FW named something like 'X3.fw (1)"?

The name needs to be explicitly X3.fw

Just guessing here.
