The Fiio X3 Thread.

Actually mine is getting quite hot since beginning (fw 2.05, 2.1). Even that way the battery still holds its promises. That's why I'm a little bit sceptical about using heat insulating covers and cases. I'm using an iPhone pocket for my X3, it fits quite nicely, but cumulates some heat.

I had a case made from "synthetic wool" and the X3 got really really hot. I won't suggest using something insulating.

I noticed the other day when I had it in my pocket for an hour in its silicon case and it ended up getting very warm. It has never had any problems with the heat yet though. I cant think how hot it would get if you got a leather case or something different.

Here is the X3 in a leather case.

Temperature of 77°F with the X3 turned off.

After 1 Hour of 24/96 FLAC, Low Gain, Volume 100, the temperature has risen to 86°F.

Basically inside the leather case it only went up 9°, the temperature probe was placed roughly in the middle of the X3's back panel between it and the case.

I imagine High gain would heat the unit up more as it does chew through the battery a lot quicker. I don't use High gain on the X3 as I have an E12 just for that purpose.

Wouldn't  "1 Hour of 24/96 FLAC, Low Gain, Volume 100" without the case been a better comparison with 1 hour on in the leather case than it's start temperature?

I have The Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd and Clapton unplugged too. The tracks that do join together do work find but I seem to sometimes have a small problem between other tracks. It just seems to skip out the last second of the track its playing and then suddenly moves on to the next one. I know it is meant to be gapless playback but I don't think it is meant to skip anything out when the tracks don't join together. It may be that I am just used to the way my old player worked.

Yeah, this matches my experience. The actual crashing seems to be confined to 24/96 and 24/192 FLAC in gapless playback on firmware 2.1, and *only* when they're loaded into onboard memory (not off my micro SD card), so I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the internal storage specifically on my own unit. The other problems you're describing above were pervasive, regardless of what high res files I was playing, and where they were loaded.

Then again, all these problems went away with the new beta firmware(s), so I'm a happy camper at the moment.
