I use mostly FLACs from CDs. To go down from 1440kbps to 320kbps would lose information. And, I have a half-dozen 24/96 albums. I've seen a lot of debate about when data compression is audible. I don't think 320kbps loses much if anything. I'm just not willing to take the chance.

where you get 24/96 albums?
from any official audio cd most who can get is 16/44.1 as i understand...
where can be get higher quality? qhat about DVD and so on?
please enlight me in that direction...

X3 arrived today. Unfortunately I told my wife it was my only Xmas gift. So FedEx said it was supposed to arrive tomorrow, my day off. But it got here today, and she was at home and hid it from me. So now I can't open it until the 25th!

Do you have a micro SD card too? The storage in only a small 8gb on the X3 itself. I started off with a 32gb then I now have a 64gb card so about 72gb of space altogether.

so, in anticipation of actually getting my x3 xmas day, ive cleaned up my library, fixed all tags, organized all folders. I have my 64g card already, whats the best way to start this. Do i just drag n drop, then insert into x3? Or do i need to wait until i have the x3 in hand before starting all this, sorry, never had anything but crappy ipods before.

Just drag and drop - create a folder structure on your SD card that is easy to navigate.

If you are using a Mac I recommend using Hacamasoft.com OptimUSB that removes all hidden file references from the SD card the Mac creates but that can confuse the X3.

Then just enjoy the X3 :)

Cheers,
K

X3 is that first step into portable source upgrade for me. Until now it was all about my home rig, which is at a more than satisfactory point. Now we start the portable getup.

sorry im new to this, but where is a good place to get music for the fiio x3?

Welcome to head-fi! Sorry about your wallet......well you can rip the CDs you have already to 192/320kbps mp3 or FLAC formats (or other hi-res formats you like/X3 supports....and you can find tons of sites who offer free downloads, there make sure you have the said formats before you download for max performance from your X3......

Might work to transfer your files ahead of time, but some people have bad luck formatting the cards with their computers and have much better luck formatting in the X3.

Correct me if Im wrong......that situatiin arise only whn we use beyond the fiio recommended standard/capacity tf cards,I guess......

Nope. Fiio officially supports 128gb mSD cards. I'm not aware of any mSD cards beyond that capacity yet. Pretty sure its that some software programs format the card with slightly different sector size and such, which can cause problems.
