The Entry Level Stax Thread

Have you changed the tubes or cleaned the pins? Have you measured the DC offset using a DMM and adjusted it accordingly via the trimpot inside? I smell bad resistor or bad tube. A cap can also be the culprit if in the PS stage/section, is the case with most of the vintage amps where hum would be hearable with a saturated cap.

Yes, I have already done all of that.

I'm seriously considering selling my LS, which has static noise in 1 driver, yet no channel imbalance and that sort of stuff. It seems to be a moisture issue due to very small punctures in the dust protector.
I am just not that much into DIY and opening them up

It has a different connector type I think.

I wonder if STAX is going to sell an adaptor for it. I would be mildly curious to try the SR-207 on-the-go. :p

I didn't even know STAX had that other portable amp....

I ain't going out in public wearing my big huge Stax "ear speakers"! :p

I would be interested as well, as I always want another driver to complete a set with a damaged driver that I have.

Yes, some interesting stuff on this thread.
A shame it's been so quiet lately.

I picked up a pair of Stax SRS-2170 'phones July 2013.
So far, I'm extremely impressed.
Let's just say my dynamic headphones are starting to gather dust, I think I'll sell some of my dynamic headphones and headphone amps over the next few months.
