The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

I did buy a pair. I will post back if I have any issues. I am glad some people have had good luck with MMCX, personally I have had at least 6 IEMs fails because of that connector. That includes $700 Sony Z5's, and a couple $300+ IEMs. I would never have bought the Motion One at full retail for this reason.

Sonically speaking the Motion One is absolutely stellar, simply one of the best deals I have bought in the past couple of years. I like it enough I am going back and buying extended warranty just in case these break... Then it's on the warranty company :)

Do you take cables off a lot? I’ve seen people that took the mmcx cables off every single time they were done listening to an earphone (to store it in the case with the earphone detached from the cable). Then they put the cables right back on before listening next time (usually the next day).

That’s just asking for problems. It’s like plugging your toaster in every morning to use it, and unplugging it again right after you make your toast. It just wears out the plug and socket.

Nothing like that, probably 5 or 6 times on a given IEM, I only changed the cable on my Z5 twice and it failed and it was my second unit after they warrantied my first unit after it failed.

I don't plan on doing any cable swapping on my Motion though, I just want to use as a BT IEM.

In case you or others are interested (for your wired mmcx gear), another HFer turned me onto these a while ago:

There’s 2 ‘keys’ in these tool assortments that fit mmcx plugs perfectly (the ones at about 4-5 o’clock in the photo).

You slide them in between the male and female connection, give it a little leverage, and it pops them right apart. Sometimes you don’t even need to leverage them. Simply sliding the tool in between the connection will pop it apart.

I’ve used them for a few years now, and have never had a single problem since using them. Even on the most stubborn mmcx, it pops them apart like magic.

$3 is cheap insurance for mmcx earphones that can cost hundreds or thousands.

Awesome! I completely destroyed my Z5 connector trying to fix it because I had the wrong tools. I will order a pair of these ASAP.

Was this on Aliexpress?

Yes, Aliexpress. But I’m sure you can get a similar product elsewhere.

In my career I have sold millions MMCX. They are not designed for repeated insertions. Personally I would not remove them ever, but if I did remove them I would only do so with a tool like this. Otherwise do not complain that it broke.
