I believe I bought the last pair of awd X2s. The reports on that thread have been troubling, but I'm not buying it.

I purchased mine in September and have experienced no issues, cosmetic or otherwise.

The people in the X2 thread are... an interesting bunch, and for the most part, aren't interested in listening to the headphones, but rather inspecting them for flaws/defects.

I just grabbed the open box pair out of curiosity, to see if there was anything to the complaints.

If I think there's nothing wrong with them, I'll just sell or trade them on the classifieds for cost.

 
I had some earlier this year that were fine too.  I think it might be newer batches that are messed up.  Apparently Philips recently sold their division that makes these headphones to another company that is known to have QC issues.

Pretty pissed that I just bought a new X2 for 199 and now I could have saved $35 and purchased a like new used pair. I kinda want to order on and return the new one.

Put the ones you bought new in the classifieds at the same price you bought them for. They will probably sell quickly at that price

I just bought the X2 (good condition) from AWD for $141 + tax.  I hope they are good.  There are more (very good condition) at $151 currently.
