They are worth more than $250..

So are the Q701's and the X1's and plenty of other headphones that have come down in price since they were released...

Why would they sell HD650's for less than 250? There's a high demand for the 650's, they are really popular.

Q701's has had it's successors released (K712, K Anniversary), therefore the price has dropped quite a lot. The X1's on the other hand are a different story. One thing to mention is that there are a lot of things that stay at the same price like Schiit Amps.

Companies are there to make money. HD650's are far above the Q701 to me due to them making recordings sound way better than they actually are. That itself is worth the extra money. Of course they are a company that wants to make money and realized the HD650's could go for much more. They have reduced the prices from the HD5xx series though.

I'm going to assume they adjusted the price to fit in with their other products.
HD518 ~$129
HD558 ~$179
HD598 ~$249
HD600 ~$399
HD650 ~$499
HD700 ~$999
HD800 ~$1499

The HD650 are not worth $300 more than its Beyer and AKG competitors.

AKG K712 is $350 on amazon and the HD650 is $389

Anyways deals thread this is the lowest I've seen it on Amazon these past few weeks:

HD650 $387

Man already got the 650s for $400 almost a month ago. It seems like after I buy something, the prices begin to drop again.

Edit: Wow I may actually be able to return these. My drivers are mismatched enough that even though I have more hearing damage in my right ear than my left ear, the left driver is noticeably louder regardless, even when swapping sides. Playing in mono too.

Same here. Think about this another way, you enjoyed the headphone one more month than others right? Price of electronic gadgets drops by time, we all know that.

In the case of the HD650s though, they remained stagnant at $500 for like a year or two when before then they were below even $350.. I don't think that applies so much here. Just Sennheiser being Sennheiser.

It should be mentioned that until Senn (or its U.S. distributor) imposed a MAP on retailers in late 2011 or early 2012, pricing of their cans to the public was much different--and generally significantly lower.

In the second half of October 2011 I bought a new HD-600 for $270.

Not only that, but I believe the price at which they sold to dealers also increased. A few months ago I was offered to snag an HD650 at dealer pricing for $350 + shipping/tax (~$390) (i.e. the person wouldn't be making a profit from selling to me since he was a coworker*), but at the time, I didn't have money.
