They're bass heavy so some like them with electronic and dub step, I like them on some alternative/punk/post-hardcore stuff. On my iPhone, the best EQ for what I was listening to was acoustic, the bass and highs seemed about the same as rock, but it brought out the mids, although it made some spots a little harsh, but it brought them about on par with my bass modded sennheiser hd428

I was listening through a favorites mix across lots of genres.
What grabbed my attention was a Jazz tune, "Time to Send Someone Away" by Marcus Strickland.
Nice clean separation.
 
for EDM, the bass doesn't perform anywhere near the M-100.
