No, it's not the truth. Also the HD650 was only launched in 2003. List price didn't change over time - if you have any proof of this let's see it. My own research found no consistent deals below $300 for that price range. every now and then it was around that mark $300 mark but certainly not a consistently below $300....

These days though - it's pretty amazing that we can find it for that price, which would translate to around $200 dollars in 2005 money...

Two minutes of google search. I can't remember how I found the one with pricing charts, it was a thread here from around 2009. Sale prices were in the $200's, normal was around $330 and third party on Amazon was in the $200's. Those post's above were even after they placed the pricing restriction. Which was the whole point of my post and has been said in this thread multiple times; It wasn't until around 2 years after they were released that a pricing restriction was placed on them.

Well, but that confirms what I said, around the $300 mark and on occasion below $300, but not consistently. Pricing restrictions could only be enforced if the dealer wanted to stay an authorized Sennheiser dealer.

Anyhow, let's not debate about the details. It was affordable back then for sure, still today we are getting way better deals if you consider purchasing power etc.

It was never a better time to buy the HD650

Ha dude I'm pretty sure thats what I originally said as well. It was all unnecessary, you went off on a bunch of tangents. Bottom line the HD 650's were super cheap compared to their msrp back in the day. Nothing is really all that amazing today other than Sennheiser lifting the pricing restriction.

Of course, it's very amazing! As it was mentioned already - $300 today are much less worth than they were 12 years ago. So it's the best deal yet - today.

Guess I'm keeping my 650s, which I got at the bargain price of $350(with a $50 APPLE gift certificate) 2 years ago. Selling for almost half that now. Maybe it's time for balanced cables...

Most IEMs under $100 I've tried I wouldn't call a deal even when on sale. The Tenores are an exception, though. At the $40 you can score them for these days they're an excellent bargain.

Iem 5 and 8 are $100 off at Touch Of Modern. Not sure their company brand can be mentioned since Noble Audio came in to the picture but that should be a really good hint at the brand. :)

That's silly. There is no bans on brand names on Head-Fi. They makes some good stuff and they are Canadian. Noble being in the picture has no relation with us being able to mention them. Though perhaps shady business practices.
