Yeah, but I recently got the HE-560, so I really don't need to dip my feet in. Drbluenewmexico , who posts a bunch, likes the400i, better than the560, which started me off on this tangent. Keeping me occupied, that's for sure! And maybe keeping busy will keep me from bbuying10 TOTL headphones!

Oh hell if you have the 560 don't bother with the 400!! Huge downgrade

The Massdrop discount on the 846 is 17%, not great imo, but the best I've seen so far. Logitech did have some Black Friday deals, but the 846 was not among them so far.
Then there's the Senn ie800 at a considerable discount, the Heir 8i, not a bad price/discount (as these TOTL things go)
Maybe I'll just go to sleep for now, and wait and see what is still active tomorrow (the non deciding way of deciding...)

on sonicelectronix.com you can make an offer on HD 800s, for $850 and they will respond back immediately with $978. No one knows about this as far as I know and can save $21 from BuySonic's deal.

Mine ended up being, $983.00*

Not even sure if I really even needed these, but might end up getting rid of my pair of T1's now.

What's everyone use for flying? Headphones or IEMs?

I've always used IEMs, from low to high end models, but have been considering getting some headphones now that good sales are on and I'm travelling in Jan. Noise cancelling not a major concern, I am mostly thinking of comfort here while listening. Mix of music/movies. Would assume ´cups´ are more comfortable than pads for flying.

Keen to hear peoples thoughts, if I decide to get some headphones I would like to get them this weekend!

Im in Aus but happy to order anywhere.

cheers

I have used both.  I use active NC IEMs now (Phiaton PS20).  I have had Bose headphones in the past.  The headphones are better than IEMs but I changed to IEMs when I decided to start traveling light.  I don't miss them at all.  The Phiatons are very good but I also have Audio Technica and Sony active NC IEMs which are more than satisfactory.  I pretty much only use them while watching movies on my phone on transoceanic flights.

I already have a fidelio x1, and I ordered the mass drop K7XX....but I had been looking at the HE-400 for a while now...How does it compare to the fidelio x1 and (what is assumed to be) the AKG anniversaries? (Please talk me out of this haha, I am hesitant to own 3 200 dollar headphones lol).

I use an airplane!:D

I use IEMs as they are just much smaller and easier to transport, but they are like earplugs with great spund isolation. Headphones on a plane are for hipsters.
