Just received my HD 700. Everything is pristine, mint condition, including the box. These weren't B grade, open box, like new. They're completely brand new and was sold for $325. What an amazing deal. If I had more money, I would've bought several more HD 700s. Now I gotta save up for a good amp/DAC and test these babies out. I don't think the E10 will do them justice.

pretty much everything will drive an hd 598. I found no significant difference with the e17 amping it. It will sound great out of an ipod.

I agree that most of the changes are subtle on the E17. I favor it, personally, with the HD 598 because the 598 responds so well to its bass and treble boosts and cuts. The additional power, EQ versatility and DAP capability of the X5 makes it an even better option.

The HD598 undoubtedly sounds great out of anything from an iPod to a $500 tube amp. Senns have an uncanny ability to scale with equipment.

I have both. The 990 and 598 couldn't be more different. So, if you're looking for something that's basically the opposite of what you have, there you go!

598: mid-forward, mellow, relaxing, balanced

990: v-shaped, rocking, exciting

Thanks.  I'll probably just put the money into extra amping for the DT-990.   Tempted to give the 598 a try, but I listen to mainly electronic music and do some gaming, and the 990 performs really well for those two things.

Again, they were brand new and yes, they smell brand new. Perfect condition all around. Very surprised these have no cosmetic flaws on them and was discounted so heavily. Hopefully yours and others' HD 700s are in the same condition as mine.

You might as well get that he400 from Moon Audio for $199. It's a bass beast, V shaped as well but a focus-a pad from an he560 levels it out better for an all-arounder. The pads are $45 and are much more comfy. .
