The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Why is there a photo of an (admittedly attractive) scantily-clad girl in a workout gym in this thread's recent images?? Unfortunately, clicking the photo doesn't provide a link to the post, maybe someone who follows this thread regularly can link it? Just curious about the context in which that post was made....

In any case, anyone that might be looking to buy an AKG K712 might want to keep an eye on Amazon, which has it for $315 right now (as do a few marketplace sellers as well): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E4WXWBE/

But Camel* also shows that Amazon had it for ~$288 just 10 days ago, so it might be worth monitoring for a while longer too: http://camelcamelcamel.com/AKG-Over-Ear-Mastering-Reference-Headphones/product/B00E4WXWBE

Its a promo image for these earphones, which are 75% off apparently at amazon

If viewing in a computer browser (not sure about phone), look at the very top above the image and click where it says "(from post #12164949)" to access the original post.

I saw that 10 days ago as well, especially some on AWD for 260 like new.

I was thinking on jumping on a pair but then I remembered that most of these are not made in Austria anymore, even though the amazon listing says they are.

But I think the pricing on these well stay around the 300 range for a while now. I have a feeling something new might come later on down the road....dont know what or how the numbering will be but AKG does need to release something new....

I don't know about the K712, but if you're doing a bass mod (sticker over the port removal) the K612 keeps a better balance than the Q701s. The K612's port is smaller so less bass is boosted when removing the sticker. Not sure if the K712, being a pro model, has a smaller port as well but the bass is boosted as is on the 712s from the pads.

If I understand you correctly, you mean to use this as a transport only, and leave the sound processing to an external DAC (for example the Chord Mojo). For $130 that's not a bad idea, but it's only got 16 Gb storage internally, and an SD card slot that's rated by the manufacturer up to 64 Gb (realistically should recognise much more, but not proven). Other than that, seems like a feasible idea (on permanent airplane mode, of course, as someone else mentioned), but is it really better than getting a lower end FiiO or Sony DAP?

If you dim the screen all the way and put it on air plane mode it should last two week as a music player, you can even stream music from Google Music and Tidal somrthing Fiio or Sony can't do without spending $500+. You buy a cheap USB DAC like the Fiio E18, E17 alpen 2 and a few more for under $150 and it will sound great

Yup, got the idea. It's interesting, for those looking to save some scratch. Also, this will support Apple Music, as it's a newer version of Android (for those who care about it).
