Expectation bias and the placebo effect does that sometimes (all the time).  It's why people think Beats sound great and why people on Head-fi keep saying that there's a huge difference in very similar headphones.  It's also responsible for headphone and audio equipment manufacturers making everything super expensive and making schiit like this:

Great Price, but note this is the DT-770 M  - the 80 ohm drummer version with sweaty but higher isolation pleather pads.   Reviews of the sound on this version have been mixed.  Course if you are a drummer, such a deal.

Are these identical to the non-M model other than the pads? I guess velour replacement pads could be had for $10-$20 on flea bay to remedy sweaty issue.

I kinda screwed up here. Because there was a Buy-it-now option for $200+shipping. Considering the stand costs $50 on its own, I thought the price was very good for someone wanting the older K70X series with the angled pads.
 
Except I placed a bid on the item, which got rid of the BIN option. Hence I had to edit my post afterwards. Sorry y'all.
