I've had the 600-ohm variant on extended-loan for a while now, and I gotta say - I'm going to miss them when they go home. Just the most perfect treble, and great air. Listening on both my Questyle CMA600i and Bottlehead Crack + Speedball, these are a knockout.

Just wanted to say I pulled the trigger on a pair of 250 ohm dt880 and I get them tomorrow. I'm looking forward to hearing them given all I've read about them. I'll report back tomorrow with my thoughts.

Anyone using the dt800 with real hi end gear?

Hello, 2 days ago I bought my DT880's 600 Ohms but on the socket of the headphones there is no label nor printed information about it's impedance.

And I want to know if the recently version of this model hasn't got this mark anymore.
In my box it says it is 600 Ohms but I want prove if it is real.

Please help guys, and thank you.

Connect the positive and negative terminals of a digital ohmmeter to the tip and sleeve of the headphone's TRS jack. If you get a DCR reading close to 600 ohms, then your DT880 are 600 ohms. :smile_phones:

I already did that, I bought the gear and Measured, and it says 600 ohms, checked out, so now Beyerdynamic has this 600 ohms with no label...

Please help me im worried, I started by testing my headphones with a 200 Ohm test and they started to sound like popping a bit, then I though this was making damage to my headphones, and tried with a bit more 2000hz because I tough 200 could be not enough power demanding and that the cause of them to dont work and popping and not measuring the ohms correctly ... they are kinda 577 ohms with this last DCR test... but Im worried, I think they are not sounding the same after this, I just bought them a couple of days ago

Does a decent OTL amp count? I have them with the La Figaro 339.

The cable is starting to cut on me, enough to make me switch to HD650 until I get some new headphones.. has anyone done a removable cable mod on DT series headphones? Would be great to re-purpose these headphones and make them useful again.

Now have a 600ohm pair of these and surprised just how good they sound (to my ears least) and sound much more different to the DT990s I had than I had bee led to believe by some reviews.

Will be using them for gaming via a Creative G6, but wondered if anyone could provide some recommendations for portable amps (or Dac/Amp combination) that I could use with either a Macbook Pro or a Samsung Galaxy S10+ mobile - was thinking something like the Topping NX4?? Looking at no more than $200/£150 as a budget.

My DT880 Premium 250's don't have the impedance on the jack nor do my DT770's .. if beyer did this in the past they do not seem to do so anymore.

there is a big thread of removable cable modding for the DT770's (the process would be pretty much the same for the 880's).

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/beyer-dt770-pro-80-detachable-cable-mod.643648/page-2

so far /touch wood the cables on my DT880's and DT770's are fine.. I think I'd just get a replacement cable for beyer and not do a removable cable on mine if the cable(s) start to go, because they are so bulky / not mobile friendly (hard to drive ..non folding..etc).. I figure I'd rather not drill out the ear cup housing to make room for a removable cable mod.. you can order the stock cable from beyer directly.

I'm sure you could also send them in for repair but no idea how much they would charge.

I did that to mine so I could use Audeze LCD wired cables, but you could hook them up any way you wanted.

Be VERY careful when soldering on the driver tabs as they are just press fit into plastic. They become loose while heat is applied and it is very easy to break the voice coil wire if the tab moves out of position too far.

Is it me or is the 880 bright as hell?

It is, but very much depends on synergy with amplifier. I also have subjective experience, that there is maybe also difference between headphone models. For example a have heard DT880 on chord hugo 2 portable dac/amp and it was almost painfuly bright for me. I have not such an experience with my DT880 250 Ohm with my gear (Shiit Valhalla 2 or Vali 2 or Fulla).
