thanks guy. specially Me x for convincing me to buy the dt880. i already ordered one.
now i am looking for an amplifier. my budget is $100. i know there are portable and desktop amplifiers which is limmted to dektops but i am looking for an amp which i can use and carry around the house at the same time, because i will be connecting my mp3 or ipod instead computer.
the only reason i am not willing to buy a portable amplifier because if i look at their size i think they offer inferior SQ to desktop amp and low battery life.
tell me guuys which amp to go for
it really depends on your ohms version. If it's the 600 ohms I would get an old school amp from goodwill if you can fit it for your solution. You can get like a Nikko, or even a marantz 2216 for around $100. All though that might be odd to carry around with your phone if you plan to use it like that.

I don't know any of the portable FiiO specs but have a hard time believing that they work well 600ohms. I had a Burson Lycann, which is fairly powerful, and it didn't play well with my 880(600). I'm using the Gustard h10.

Wow, did not expect these to have as much bass as they do.  I'm guessing Beyer has tweaked these from the way they used to be back in the early 2000s.  They sound beautiful out of both my Valhalla 2 and Vali 2.  I'm actually surprised by how well they sound out of the Vali.  Only 135mw of power going into these (600ohm) and it almost matches my Valhalla.

I don't know about "only" 135 mW (well, their site says 140 mW), you're good up to a theoretical ~115 dB.

But yeah, bass does dig reasonably deep compared to other headphones of its age.

The sad truth is that even the 600 Ω doesn't really need much to reach 85 dB SPL. Even 100 dB only requires ~2.5 mW theoretically, assuming listed 880 specs are accurate.

Still, it's pretty impressive of the Vali 2.

Really digging these headphones. They won't be replacing my hd650, but these are probably pretty close. Definitely prefer the overall tone compared to the others I've owned in and slightly above this price point.

I got the Burson Lycann because I was looking for a smaller solution that would work for my 600ohms phones. The Lycann is 2.2watts at 16 and .2watts at 300. They didn't list 600 but I took a gamble. The 880 sounded like someone covered them with a sheet. They were loud but didn't have the clarity. I got the Gustard and the 880 sound fantastic, exactly like my old school amps were pushing them (marantz 2238). The Lycann sounds great with all my 300 ohms or less headphones. That's my experience anyway.

Do these leak much sound outward?

Yes, I think beyer classifies them as semi-open, but they do leak sound and of course you will hear sound around you.

They are great HPs by the way.....the sweet spot in the dt lineup.

Guys I dont know if someone has already ask for a comparison between the DT880 and the T1 (gen 1).
But if lets say the DT880 is a 7/10 in score, the T1 will be..??
