Very interesting!
So much scope with these classic headphones.listening to dt880 600 ohm through a chord mscaler//tt2 combo worth 9K and it sounds sublime. the tt2 is pushing pure voltage in effortlessly.

Let's see: are you as old as my '81 600Ω'ers ?It's amazing how old I am.
Curious ... have you ever compared the sound of these to a recently manufactured 880/600?Let's see: are you as old as my '81 600Ω'ers ?
oooooh, that could constitute a litany of impression, but you asked. In a nutshell, I've spent time with Beyers since the Seventies, and currently have an '81 880 600Ω'er and a now-broken-in-I-think 2021 880 600Ω'er. In a further nutshell: the 2021 is noticeably darker, will never be mistaken for the '81; the 2021 now sounds super, swallowing up challenging dynamics much better than the '81; unlike many cans, I prefer to not fiddle with EQ to either 880; lastly, the '81 is not good for head-banging, but literally disappears when confronted with an orchestra or jazz ensemble finer than anything else I've pulled over my ears, including Orpheus's & Stax's. The '81 is just stupid-fast, still my main squeeze (I'm sloooowly trying to dial-in a very thirsty 6se V2). I'm on my second-and-a-half flimsy headband/yoke on the '81 (fingers crossed): the 2021 is built like a tank. The prime reason I acquired the newest 880 was fear a voice coil in my '81 would catastrophically crap out on me.Curious ... have you ever compared the sound of these to a recently manufactured 880/600?
