The Beyerdynamic DT250 Thread

Channel imbalance? No. It'll either work fine, with both sides connected properly, or not work at all.
Not sure how this 6pin connector looks like, but the pinout used to be listed in service manuals.
I asked, because I read of report of channel imbalance issues with some users due to imperfect seal at the connector

This is due to physical seal issues. I believe some owners forget to fit the retaining screw (thus leaving an unofficial “vent hole” in the otherwise sealed cup...)

Hmm, so the 6 pin connector will seal perfectly fine in the 7 pin socket of the DT 250, even though 1 pin is not covered? That was what I meant with my question

OK, then I would say there won't be any issues. It's the edge of the connector and sealed screw hole that creates the seal.
Even with all 7 pins in place, there isn't a good seal, because springed contacts aren't particularly good at keeping vacuum :smile_phones:
Just seal it the same way as 7 pin connector (with foamie) and it should be fine.
Let me know if you need more details.

BTW, it's not some users, it's all users, including Beyerdynamic, who admitted to this flaw in my recent communication with them. :relieved:

Got the DT 250 today by user gringod and listened to it for a few hours. Sounds like I remembered. I put my DT 150 Mogami w2893 cable in, and I hear no channel imbalance in the mids and highs.

If there would be an imbalance, would that be audible through the whole range, or only audible in the bass?

I can’t detect an imbalance either.

So I've used this material, instead of the blue foamie, to use as a sealant on the pins (obviously cut, trimmed and put needle holes in it for the pins to go through), since I don't have foam craft at home.

Would this also work as well as the blue foamie to seal the connection?

One thing I've noticed with these headphones, is that they're extremely sensitive in the sound to the way you fit them. Just a slight change in fit while the headphones are on, like if they're sliding a bit down, can make the sound more resonant.. I don't like that at all.

I'm wondering, are there some big differences between one model of 250 ohm vs another? I don't know if I'm imagining it or if it's true, but this pair of DT 250 seems more resonant than my 2 previous pairs I had 2 years ago.

Has anyone else heard more than 1 pair of the 250 ohm version, that found rather large sound differences?

I have a pair of DT770 80 Ohm now and in comparison to my DT250 250 Ohm: the DT770 is not as loud on sources without amp (surprisingly) and sound more muffled with less crisp highs. I much preferred my DT250's and I might end up buying another pair.

That's what I want to hear. I have the 770s 80ohm,too. I'm very interested about the 250s but can't decide 250 or 80 ohms because of the loudness they offer. If the Dt-250 250 ohms a tiny bit louder or equal in loudness than the DT-770s 80 ohms than I have no problem to buy the 250 ohms version
