We all hear things differently, but from my perspective, the W3000's are not even remotely nasal or congested.

I love mine and I have zero complaints.  I really don't think I will ever sell them.  It is the definition of an all-time classic for me.

don't hear vocals as nasal or "honky" either but these aren't the last word in clarity. the th900 does better in that department for a closed can imo. but it doesn't have the w3000anv's midrange which puts more meat on the bones. you can't have it all.

I'm on the same boat. They don't sound congested to me neither, W3000 are so colourfully musical is probably the best way to describe them.

With you on this one. Doesn't have the greatest extension both high and low (not that I seem to miss anything though) but the mids are so lush and romantic that with the right music there is no better phone. Colourfully musical is a really good description.

Great that you share the same view, because I really want a comparison between the W3000 and the L3000. Wish you luck in finding a L3000 in good condition, very hard to come by these days.

i could understand the w3000anv being described as sounding a bit congested or muddy comparatively tbh

Thanks, kinda gave up on finding one because I'd settle for no less than a mint one.
I did have the L3000 before and imo it can't be compared to the W3000. From what I understood each of the AT woodies had their distinct flavor.
The L3000 is for older/harder rock/metal (60-70-80) what the W3000 is for voices in my experience.
Never enjoyed my old rock music as much as with the L3000.

OMG AppleheadMAY you had 2? Geez you're really pushing your luck LOL. Most people will never get to own one let alone 2.

One would say that with the headphones like W3000ANV people will keep them mint for as long as possible - and not only because they cost quite some coin. I bought mine 3 years ago (coincidentally from AppleheadMay :) ) and I am doing all I can to preserve the same look they had when I got them. Gently cleaning the cups and leather pads every other day, cleaning dust off the headband/wings - they are practically as good as new, no scratches, no blemishes, not even fingerprints.

But I can see a problem with finding a new pair - it's been some time since they were released, and I am sure there are more than 2000 people who could afford them and love them at the same time. So if all 2000 of them found such owner - you might have very hard task ahead of you to get one, best of luck with that.
