I looked at the R6 but the OI was too high for some of my stuff. The new Pro looked decent but only comes with 4.4 balanced not 2.5 (didn't want to invest in new cables). I have the R3 and love it. R6 should take that higher...heard good things about it.

All you would need is a good balanced 2.5mm to 4.4mm adapter. @HungryPanda should have a photo and/or a link. No need to replace all the cables.

@HungryPanda , thanks for the link. I decided to go with the M5S which has 2.5 balanced so no need to change up my cables. Always good to see decent options though, thanks...

Hey everyone! I just got the Sony XBA N3 IEMS. It's a hybrid Dynamic Driver with a BA. The bass is popping!:L3000:. I'm so used to listening to BAs

If you all have any DD iems you would recommend. I'll try to get some more to collect sometime!

Well, after some consideration, I have decided to keep my X5iii as the going rate for sales is too low. Hate to see the depreciation go so low that I'm taking a huge loss on it. Better to keep it and let it sit rather than giving it away. I still like the sound of it and have had no problems so it stays. But, I have been on the lookout for a new unit (can't resist the pull for new toys). I decided I was going to give the Shanling M5S a try after some back and forth. Hopefully I get a good one without some of the issues I have been reading about. Getting ready and loading up a card full of music. I'll post pictures and impressions once I get my hands on it.

I'm glad I got my X5 III at a rebate price and sold it for very little loss after a few months. I can imagine depreciation is really high. :/

Did you have problems or was it just not for you?

Sound was amazing, OS was limited, had screen issues which forced a replacement. I thought it was too limited to justify carrying a second device... There's also the fact the OS was archaic, which rendered any internet connectivity risky. But that last point is the security guy in me.

@Karendar that's too bad it didn't work out, at least you didn't lose too much money on the deal. I bought mine when it first came out and paid full price so I'll never recoup enough to justify the sale at way less than half of what I paid. I use it without all the connectivity and play in pure music mode only so I don't see the lag in UI at all. Love the sound. I guess it'll stick around. Powers the HD6xx nicely in balanced mode.

I'm hoping the M5S will sound good and deliver some sweet sounds to my soul...a lot to ask, I know.

Could use some soul smoothing right now. I'm 3+ weeks into DRY January. Been a tough month. Next Friday is the 1st of Feb and gotta to get back to my watering holes...

I, too, love the R3. Also really digging my N5ii and of course the X5iii, waiting on the new M5S

Hey since more and more phones are removing headphone jacks.

What are the list of midfi daps you are all looking at so far?
As an entry level, Shanling M0 never cease to amaze me.
My daily driver is an X7mkII
