OK this may be a bit controversial, remember too this is my ears here, perhaps not the best pair out there but at least they aren't tiny. :)

The Etymotic ER4XR when driven by the N6ii, sounds great but it sounds great out of my Sony ZX300 (I tried to do a fair comparison) and most other things I plug it into, there is no incremental change or improvement like there is with the SE846 and N6ii pairing, there I said it.

I would draw the conclusion that being a single BA most HQ sources are able to push the ER4XR to its resolution limit. I think its a considerable plus for the ER4XR that to get a great sound from it I really don't need to spend a lot of money on a TOTL DAP.

Here's a picture of the pairing.

Today it was the Shure SE846, I haven't used a full size headphone for a few weeks being "flaming June hot summer weather" here (yeah right) but I'm going to pair it up with my Audioquest NightOwl over the weekend and see how that goes.

Are the Shures a quite sensitive? Maybe the Cayin is a better pairing than your previous? Still it's a good result if they have improved :)

Just love the NO. It pairs with just about anything I throw at it. Most comfortable over-ear phone I own...

I guess the cable debacle is blowing up on that thread. Slater is going to be doing some dissections soon. But a lot of people are concerned and think that all Chinese cables are fakes. I, for one, think the ISNs are a great build and are not fake. I have not taken mine apart but love the sound out of them and am pleased I got what I got for the relativity cheap costs.

Agreed, I'm a big fan of the ISN and HiFiHear cables I have.

Mine was light blue. I believe this is when the term "ugly" was born.

None of the 1970's AMC (other than the Javelin and AMX of course) were attractive cars. The pic below shows a car exactly like my first one, color and all. Needless to say, I didn't get a bunch of dates the 6 months I owned that car, lol.

I had this car when I was young and single. 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. It looked a lot like this one too with everything missing and dents everywhere. I got it for free and sold it for $75.....
