Question for AK240 owners.

My AK100 has usb dac "functionality" but it's not perfect.  Long story short the longer I use it the greater the time difference between the video and audio.  Not fun.  Toslink does stay in sync.

Since I've moved to an iem only setup I'd love to have a one and done portable rig and the AK240 fits the bill BUT how is the usb dac on it handled?  XMOS, Tenor, VIA, CMedia, firmware like the AK100?  And does it actually work 100%?

Lastly what retailer provides direct service?  I ask because I've been emailing iRiver at the addresses they list on their site for a month and nothing.  It's like they don't have a service department so if I buy one I'd like to do so from a vendor I can deal with directly should I need service.

Hi Solude,

As a current owner of an AK240 as well as a previous owner of both the AK100 and AK120, I find the USB DAC functionality on my MacBook Air to be perfect. The 240 is recognized immediately in the Audio MIDI Setup app, and I've had no hitches whatsoever.

I strongly recommend working with an authorized dealer since A&K seems to be having some operational challenges right now, something I hope will be remedied in the near future. I purchased all my A&K units from Ted at teds headfood here on Head-Fi. I found him to be entirely trustworthy, a true man of his word ... a rarity these days in my humble opinion.

Good luck!

Oh, and by the way, the 240 is better than any report about it you've read. This will make itself abundantly clear after you experience ownership.

Huh well this isn't promising.  From the AK240 usb driver manual...

There may be issues with audio-to-video synchronization during video
playback depending on the sound quality and operating environment.

"Ask me no questions I'll .........."  Amazon will have the 128 GB, $119.00 card in stock in about a week. There is some availability, pieces which have not been pre-ordered. I think we will have them in our little hands before the end of the month.
