I've barely started with the Alpha and had to order the Serratus. I only needed an hour to know this was something special, to be continued though. I'll be back in a few weeks at least to give my full impressions. To be clear, timbre and balance are the qualities I look for the most from audio gear, above even "resolution" and "technicalities". It's just too hard to enjoy quartets, opera and symphonies of the sound signature is off and the timbre weird. One does not need 300 hours of listening to know if those qualities are there or not. After all, when we go to a concert, we have roughly an hour to enjoy the music and we don't need more to know if the acoustics are right.
So, yes the accoustics are absolutely right with the Alpha, after an hour of listening. But I'll know more about the rest in a couple of weeks.
Cheers !

I listen to tons of orchestral music, symphonies, concertos, operas etc...how did you find the Alpha with orchestra?
Alpha is great for it, for sure. But Serratus is on another level. It does larger ensemble better than anything else I've ever listened to. Close my eyes and I'm in the concert hall - nothing else quite like it for me!
For me, where Alpha shines is in chamber ensembles or solo performances that are more intimate - Alpha's gorgeous timbre really shines here.

Alpha and Tantalus review incoming, with a shootout between the three. @tgx78 is the new sheriff in town and knowing him, he is just starting.

I'll have photos taken next week courtesy of @riverground, but I also have received a very special Serratus that I've been spending lots of time with, maybe even more so than my IEMs. Impressed as always with TGX buds!

In comparison with most iems... Serratus price is a crime. Or the other way around 👮

I can throw U12T at it and it won't break.

Glad to hear others enjoying the Alpha. It’s basically all I use these days. I listen to a lot of piano and recently I’ve been listening to Bach Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin and they reproduce violin amazingly. So pleased with these..
Every model seems so good but then each new release seems to up the ante.

This is a excellent point. I’ve been in solo violin and chamber mode so I forget how great the Serratus is for the larger scale music. I think it’s time to listen to the Serratus for a bit..

**edit…. Serratus playing now and man I forgot how much depth and space these have.. wow..

I agree…. I have had some( and heard several other) very expensive iems and frankly I don’t miss them at all compared to these. That they are priced so low is just incredible for what they are capable of. My Diana Phis have some benefits of headphones over earbuds or iems so sometimes I like that larger scale or the more full bass but for midrange timbre, the Alpha beats them to my ears.

This is genuinely great to see @tgx78 getting some recognition.
The problem is EARBUDS are not getting recognized and it's a scandal. Give it 10 more years when all the young head phoners begin to experience neck issues due to age and years of "work at home" with headphones on. They will come to appreciate audiophile earbuds and TGX will have the experience to build his empire.

On a side note, talking about comfort, it is absolutely excellent and essential that the @tgx78 earbuds are built this way, because the cable is so light, the earbuds do not move on the ears once in place. Often the weight of the cable will make the earbuds move and force us to replace them which leads to a general sense of insecurity, etc...

Agreed completely.

Ive been on a crusade in the audio discord communities (and have probably become a bit of a broken record for anyone who frequents them) and earbuds are finally starting to pick up steam!

I've basically been sending anyone and everyone who will listen to me to tgx and Riku!

Gonna keep at it and we'll see where this can go 😊

Has there been any discussion about foams on the TGX earbuds ? The black foams that come with the case are they the most recommended ones ?
I am not sure if there's a difference between the black and white foams... @tgx78 , is there?

I tried Heigi foams on the Serratus, and that was not a good combo for me; bass was muddied, just sounded off

All my earbuds are tuned with included black foams.

Of course everyone is welcome to try different foam covers, but they will deviate from the intended tuning.
