I am still a bit lost on a what to buy. I am pretty new in this audio world but I am looking for a device to stream Tidal. The V3 seems very interesting but I am not yet sure about the advantages/disadvantages against android based systems. There is also a nice sale going for the V6 but my biggest worry there is the old android version.
Also looked at the Hiby m300 but that seems to be a step down dac wise?
The V3 at least seems to beat the R3 II?
Any other contestants for €250?

Yes. V3 with my smsl h3 sounds like hi-end. Ok, maybe not as hi-end, but much better then v6 + smsl h300

Indeed, in the system configuration menu, in the "USB working mode" option, there are two options, "auto" and "device". If you press either of them, it seems to work, but the indicator of the selected option does not light up, which confused me, as I thought that these options did not work. I guess it's a firmware bug;

So far I am happy with it, I like the form factor and sound quality seems good.
I have a few questions:

Anybody knows what is the meaning of the icons on the drop-down quick settings panel?
So far I am not able to listen to music while using the player. I believe this can be solved with usb settings, but I have not been able to find out how. Anybody knows how to enable playing while charging?
Is there any soft case available (silicon or leather)?

I’m not sure about listening while charging but you can use player while it plays the song

The selection of icons in the drop down menu can be adjusted inside the system menu by clicking the “shortcut menu” option and highlighting what you want show, this will also inform you of their functionality, choices available are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, DNLA, Airpla, HiBy Link, Output Selectio, Gain, Sleep shutdown

Got mine today. So far happy

Despite of some bugs it is absolutely worth the price I paid 160€.

Tidal and Qobuz works fine it seems that Qobuz audio quality is higher than Tidal, when playing it is easy to hear the difference with V3

There are some bugs:

1. I can't install OTA firmware upadate 1.1 which is available online from player menu.
2. When browsing my 512gb SD card there are missing a lot of folders with music.
3. Sometimes volume goes down randomly to 0 itself when playing track and after that all system freeze until I completely shut down and restart player.

Despite of these bugs everything else is working fine and player has a lot of feautures

Now for the sound:

It sounds absolutely the best when connected as a USB DAC to my smartphone! Just another level when listening to music with Neutron android music player from my smartphone!
Reccomend to do the same for everyone who wants to get the best out of V3! It sounds much better when connected as a USB DAC compared to internal playback!

Pairs really well with my Focal Elegia and Focal Clear! You won't find ant better dap or dac/amp for this price for sure!!!

i agree it sounds slightly better when using as an external dac. But actually if you are using slightly bright and easy to drive IEMs it sounding shouting and crispy especially on HF. So V3 is not gentle sounding device. It’s sounds more like D class amp rather than TI opa and AKM should sound to me. But if you are using it with darker IEMs or hard to drive planars you will not recognize negative side of V3 sound.

I just got my unit and I'm not off to a great start. It won't update the database. I can folder browse, but I don't want to have to do that all the time. I tried to listen to a test track and it automatically increased the volume to max. I don't know if the button was just stuck or something cause it's not doing that now, but it was not pleasant. Also, the 1.1 otg update won't install. I'm going to try reformatting my sd card and possibly trying to find the update elsewhere.

On the plus side, it works as a usb dac and I did a latency test and found it work flawlessly.
