Symphones Magnum upgrade for Grado SR325 and Alessandro MS2

Hard lesson learned- for those sending anything to Rhydon from the US- don't use the small USPS Priority mail international box, it does not provide tracking (only medium and large do). When my V1 drivers got lost by USPS while en route to Rhydon, I could not track them and there was nothing USPS would do. Rhydon has been very understanding in this, so thanks Rhydon.

That's what I've learned. You're expected to pay between $20-30 if you want tracking even if it's under 4lbs. Without tracking, it's under $2. USPS has been pretty good to me so far..*knock on wood*

I just sent a guy a pair of sm3s to California. Even though the guy said they made it to him the tracking said they were delivered in Mississippi. Pretty worthless. I paid for insurance but am just glad they got delivered right.

I'm strongly considering sending in my SR325i cans to get Magnumized. I'm very excited to see such positive responses to this, as I have been very reluctant to drop c-notes for an entirely new set of headphones as I love my Grados, but am quite hungry for something better.

So I think the new order of Magnums is getting a newer revision. It sounds pretty exciting. I say this because this was last email from Rhydon about my pair:

I cant say much but... it will be replacing the current Magnum.

Hmm...interesting. I just sent my drivers in for replacement, hopefully I'll be getting the latest revision. Version 2.5?

I gotta say, even with having the LCD-2 and speakers to listen to, I still miss my Magnums. Listening to Ane Brun and other intimate acoustics just doesn't sound as good with other headphones. I miss the little details like the squeaks and the ring of guitar strings, the thud of the guitar, her voice right next to the microphone...

Anyone recommend a good way to break-in these headphones?

I'm thinking of just putting my entire music playlist on shuffle, which is just about every genre with an emphasis on hip-hop and electronic (i.e. a share of stuff with a lot of bass). I'll probably leave it going for about 150 hours (~6 days).
