I broke my 681's modding them. Curse my lack of soldering skill
with you on the semi open... they just breathe. but in the studio we have to use the isolated cans... so i had Rothermel do a driver motor mod adding a neo magnet to the rear... and putting them in a 662 body... man somehow he tamed the highs, even made a 669 sound bright... and the clean transparent mid s... this is one of my favorite headphones. alto i do prefer open headphones, the 662 series are very useful, and the three sound stages really complement each other, no one leaves unhappy. unlike the 681 series... where the 681 throws you on the ground and stomps on you, then the 681F flattens you out like a steamroller, and the 681B leaves you bewildered... of the three... the 681 is the bomb. i find myself listing to the mod'd 681, & 662 ... most of all. and when i want to hear in naked vision... the 662F... Cheers
I read that the DT700 ear pads work with the Samson SR850 and the Superlux HD668B using the ear pads of the DT990, but someone know if the diameter from Samson SR850 and Superlux HD668B is different?
The samson SR850 the diameter of ear pad must be: 4" (102mm) with opening 2.4" (60mm)
Here observe the beyerdynamic DT 990 ear pad on the HD668B:
These must work with HD668B, Imagewise, but i'm not sure:

If the Beyer pads fit the 668b they should also fit the HD660 which has a slightly smaller diameter then the 668b. I found these 660 velours so they should fit?

If someone would be kind of enough to buy these and try to fit them on their own 681/SR850/681/662 and share their experience before I buy them for my 668b which I should order in a few months.I would be very grateful
I also just noticed that the beyer velour pads on the 668b aren't on the right way. It looks like someone just glued/taped them on there.
That person makes pads for the HD681/668b... The people at Rock-Grotto don't really like that person's work. They say the HD681 pads were thinner than the stock pads.
how would you compare an unmodded 681 to a 668b?
the stock 681 has a lovely sub bass tone scooped mid's and tit_a_lactating highs... and the 668B has a tight ass with really a good over all pleasure of listing ... & with a good head amp ... actually a quite pleasant headphone... now a proper mod'ed 681 will leave them both on the side of the road crying Mommy... go figure the new normal ... is not quite cracked up to the real deal... ;~) Cheers Doyen
