Personally, I wouldn't go for any of those in public. They are simply too bulky, not really portable and leaks sound. I use IEMs myself, but that might not suit you. You could, however, take a look at the Superlux IEMs, they are said to be good.

How much larger? Too large to warrant carrying about?

I have a bit of a thing about IEMs, I really don't like them.
The other option I've been considering is the Phillips Uptown.
Also been looking at the Superlux 669 series. Much better isolators and I can use EQ to boost the bass slightly.

First Question:
The 662? They are closed, do not leak at moderate volumes, would be ok in a library.
I agree with Coil, get the 662B.

@French
The 681/668/HD7? They leak - a lot. I can hear them in the adjacent room when they are laying on the listening station table.

I can't for the life of my find the 662B listed anywhere for sale here in the UK. I can find the 662 and the 662F, but no 662B.
As I said in my previous post, I've been considering the 669s. Any pros/cons with those that you know of?

Seems to be true... HD-662B is hard to find and even thomann.de don`t offer them anymore. But HD-662 should also be good.
HD-662F is very neutral and analytical, but good for studio use or rock music.

Hey Man, i just have too put my two hillbilly shots of whisky to get her... i as b thinking dim dare Head me up phones yur think them about, are like this: they en;s  all have dare different sound, oh yea like the EVO it sounds like you b listing to P.Q. oh yea i **** even tell you what that stands fur, cuz i b kick off the forum, but let me tell you it sounds pleasurable ...highly recommended for just sure pleasure of listing.  now the ^^@ no 662 series, well dam dear 662, is a fuller wide ass sound, say's too pee like the DT770 nut sure i can agree cuz i stupidly sold the pair we had, but it b a nice full sounding can ...i like e'm but where is the EVO version? OH yea SuperSlut you tease us at the NAMM, and then ****?  anywho on to the 662F freak you could hear it all even in the living room with the wife yak'ing. we zen's like this en ...jow on to the 662B iams thinking the B stands for BAD... like a very narrow mid section the 100 HZ sweet punch not a true picture... of things to cum. but good at first listen. Translated from drunk Georgia, USA slang into English:

-All the SuperLux headphones do, indeed, have different sound signatures
-681 EVO sound is good and enjoyable, pleasurable and recommended just for listening pure pleasure. He likes the EVO.
-662 series supposedly designed to be like the Beyer DT770, but he sold (and regrets it) his pair of the DT770 so cannot make a direct comparison.
-662 is a nice full sound can but he wonders where the 662 EVO version is after the teaser rollout at NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants ).
-662F can hear all the detail with loud conversations going on in the same room, blocks out distractions. He likes this one.
-662B he does not like, he dislikes the 100hz bump in the FR, not a true picture of good sound. Sounds good at first, but this is deceiving and has him wanting to turn on his speaker monitors.

His 662F comments reinforce what others mentioned 3 years ago when the 662F was discovered as a great bargain headphone.
I don't agree with his 662B assessment, however.

Which Superlux model would be best for watching movies? They will be plugged into my receiver's headphone jack. First choice is an open can, second choice is semi-open. Needs to be comfortable, with a lot of ear space. Thanks.

I would go for the 681 EVO, they are absolutely great for movies.

My ear is big and i found it pretty comfy, especially with the velour pads that also make the bass more tight/defined....
