@Miiksu would you mind to post any proposed eq fixes for 668b that I could use with Equalizer APO?
Also what pair would you recommend as an upgrade from 668b? I'm listening to metal mostly, I use them for mixing as well.
Thanks

105/110mm fits perfectly. Seller does not tell the size. I like HD688 more. I think they have same driver but HD688 is closed and has better bass response, crisp and hot treble , flatter frequency response and overall sound quality when modded. HD687 is less hot on the treble. Modded HD687 may be better suited for the trashmetal without EQ.
Edit. Sorry I talk only modded because I dont really remember how these sounded without mods.

Thanks. I actually bought these pads for my 668b: https://www.thomann.de/pl/superlux_hd_681_ear_pads_velour.htm
They're super comfy but I noticed that the sound changed a lot, the bass is kinda anemic and they lost some low end and fullness. Any ideas how would I go about restoring these freqs with EQ APO?
Just wanted to quickly post that though I have a bunch of headphones (like most of us), I am now on year 7 of owning my HD681 Evo and still really enjoying them. Very impressive bass and I believe overall, a terrific value still to this day.

Hmm. Can't really help with this Need to measure. Get the china pads they are probably better and u don't lose that much bass and may make it more neutral sounding. But you can try to mod these. Add 3-5mm thick foam ring to the front, to edge where the white paper ends and use adhesive. See my mod on the HD688.

I agree. I've bought a number of headphones since I first got my HD 681 EVO (as a gift, no less!) and I still think they sound terrific for the price and are just a plain fun headphone to listen to.

But the reason u lost bass is because its too soft. If going to velours then pads need to be dense foam and or memory foam. I don't get why they make those soft pads, it bleeds the bass out.
Had a pair of black EVO's a few years ago but the headband broke after a couple years of moderate usage. None of my other hp's have ever failed on me in any way as I am super anal about all my gear and am probably as careful as humanly possible. I loved the EVO's but was so pissed they broke I sword never to replace them. I paid around 42 bucks for my first pair if I remember correctly and saw a white pair on flea-bay for 29 dollars new, free shipping...I had a 5 dollar coupon so for 25 bucks I went against better judgement and grabbed them.
They came in 2 days later and I tried them on my SS rig which is a Keces amp and DAC with great results. What's a little strange is I remember my first pair being kind of woolly in the bass and doing the foam mod to them and finding they sounded much better. But these new ones didn't have thick woolly bass and almost sounded like a different can. Good detail in the highs and nice low end without bloat and boom.
I don't know if Superlux made any changes to the hp but when I removed the leatherette pads the same thick felt pads was there over the driver screen. I didn't remove it and just put the velour pads on. They sound great! I tried them on my hybrid setup (Loxjie amp and Oppo disc drive) and again they sound fantastic...I feel no need to replace the thick felt pads with a thin cotton makeup removal pad I stole from the wife like the first set.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Did Superlux change the design at all? These new EVO's don't sound so thick in the bass and high end is present and accounted for.
Great can btw and for 25 bucks it's an absolute steal!
Huys, I'm looking for something for ambient (mostly) >rock >synthwave and sometimes gaming. I'm thinking about hd330 or hd660. Which one should I take? I wear my headphones for 6+/8+ hours
Thanks!

HD660 is more neutral. Also HD662F is a good option when modded and that is very easy to do. Get a good pair of memory foam pads. I used 105mm size on the HD662F. Perfect fit. 110mm has a bit more extension but can make upper bass more elevated. Those superlux headphones lack dynamics on the bass. Weak driver but can be bretty good otherwise. Midrange and treble is good.

Hello! Thanks a lot for your input. I own a takstar pro 82 and a superlux hd681. I am looking to replace my takstar for outside listening since I couldn't find this amazing sound from the hd681 which honestly blows my mind everytime at how good it sounds.
I've been considering the 662 Evo and now the 688, both of them won't be modded.
Do you know if the hd688 (or any of you) sounds similar to hd681? I don't need it to be better, similar is enough.
