My #1 favorite headphone I've ever owned is sold at Best Buy. Its not the BEST, but it's hard not to love since it and my HD-598 have my near perfect sound signature.
It's the Koss Pro DJ 100 and it's sold there for $80. Unfortunately it needs an amp. A larger mp3 player (such as a Zune HD or Ipod Touch) and an E5 at the bare minimum. The E5 is only $25 or so though.

So for under $105 you could have a pretty amazing headphone. I love mine so much that I recabled it, added new pads and modded it.

best by has the HD25 addidas on their website, you could get it for that money, is the same as the senn hd25-1 II thi, you'll be paying like 50$ for blue pads and adidas logo, but if you like it go for it.

I like these suggestions but even though i have $350 store credit, i still dont want to spend much over $150 (id make an exception if i found some hd25s). What is an amp used for, and how much do they cost? Im using these with an 3rd gen ipod touch by the way.

There are plenty of headphones (used) at $150 that he could get.a pair of Denon AH-2000 if he wanted some good bassy headphones, T-50p's or B&W P5 are a few that are good headphone suggestions for his price range.

Does your Best Buy have a Magnolia department? If so, go in and take a few of the headphones for a test listen. Then drool over some Mcintosh Amps.

They dont sell Mcintosh amps in the store

I also recommend the HD25-1 if possible.
Otherwise the HD428, SRH440, or ATH-M40 HD558 I suppose.

Can you try out all the headphones that are sold at Best Buy? It depends what sounds best to your ears, even the Shure's that are coming out on top, may not be what you are looking for in a pair of headphones. Remember take your iPod to Best Buy to try out the headphones.

I did but they only have like three to try out at best buy. I pretty much have to make this purchase out of faith. Im just looking for the best sound quality and clarity for my type of music
