Hello Head-Fi!

Im buying some headphones soon :) I had some Koss Porta-Pro's but the wire snapped and since they've been gone, ive gone through about 5 set of crappy 10-20 $ headphones. So know I'm looking for some decent ones for around 60 bucks! I'm pretty hard on my headphones (sports, listen to music a lot everyday, I go to sleep listening to them also).. Also i HATE  in-ear ones.. like the ones which go really deep into the ear!

Now as I might not be the one actually buying them (long story) it would be great if you could find them on either the JR site :http://www.jr.com/ . Or Bestbuy : http://www.bestbuy.com/ ...

So here are the ones ive had my eyes on:

You could always go for used audio technica ath-m50's. Bassy and warm sound signature (so it's not too far from your portapros), built like a brick _____house, and comfy to boot. Ear sweat may be a problem though...

The Sennheiser HD 201's are so cheap they're almost disposable but I think they sound about as good, and in some ways better, than the $100 well liked HD 280 pro's... They're the best really cheap closed back full size cans I've found. So they're worth considering if you want at least some isolation (both keeping the music in and the world out). And you can find them for under $20.

If you don't mind an open back, there are likely better choices. But, beware, the Sennheiser models are all over the place in their sound. Even replacement models often sound much different than the discontinued models they replace. It's like Sennheiser just throws random drivers in the latest styled earcups and never even listens to or measures them. The fact the HD 201's rival the 5 times more expensive HD 280's is just one example. Unlike with some other headphone manufactures (say Grado), there's no such thing as a "Sennheiser Sound".
