I've been wanting to take my 840 drivers our again and do a custom enclosure to get rid of the resonances. The drivers are pretty decent, and the headband assembly (although ugly) is pretty comfy. Maybe I'll restart that. I put them in an open enclosure before and can't recall exactly how they sounded, but it wasn't bad. If you're also down to mod, let's do it and see if we can make this into an alive thread again.

Just a short feedback:

tried my 840s with the Brainwavz Hybrid now and found them to be very comfy and neutral in terms of frequency response. Isolation is quite decent, as well.

The pleather version was just awful. It messed up with the soundstage and made the Shure way too muffled overall.

The Hybrids work great in contrast.

My SRH840 should be arriving tomorrow. I got a great deal on a new pair so now I'm wondering which pads to try?

Brainwavz hybrid
Or
Brainwavz sheepskin?

Any advice much appreciated!

I'd recommend the hybrids. They sound more neutral to me.
