Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7

Leakage appears to have passed the wife test which is good news.

I'm really liking these - rich and detailed. I don't find them dark, just not unnaturally bright. And good all rounders. And so comfortable!

The cable is way too long though

The 3m single-ended cable is too long and I ended up sending my 2m balance cable to be reterminated with 4-pin XLR plug to use with my Oppo HA-1

this was posted over in the Rockets thread but I think the music is simply awesome on the Z7 too

Just when I thought I couldn't love these IEM's more, I listened to Thomas Bergersen's Sun and was blown away by the level of clarity, detail, and the sheer quality of the instrumental and vocal playback.

Some late night listening with these cans and they are indeed growing on me. The construction and comfort is very good and the laid back sound is just working oh so very well with some Blue Rodeo.

Yup loving Blue Rodeo with them as well, I also have Greg Keelor - Gone which sounds heavenly though them. Gonna have to try Hallelujah with them. Right now I am listening to Eternal Part which a best of collection of Arvo Part.

They sound really good out of my main rig (GS-X Mk2 - Metrum Hex), but man, they sound really good out of my AK100II. I think it might be a late night.

MH are you hearing any sonic changes in your pair or is it essentially the same as when you got it?

Have you ever heard the Jeff Buckley version of this song? Amazing.
I feel like the highs have become clearer and more extended and the bass tighter since I've broken them in. The imaging really is fantastic too!

Not really, but I haven't put that many hours on them. That said, I got them used and they already could have essentially burned in already.

The changes are subtle which is why I was curious if any one else noticed a change as this one could be brain burn in as much as any physical change of the headphone.
