$The Japanese RRP for the Z7 is surprisingly low at 56000 JPY (roughly $515 US). Very interested to read impressions and comparisons from early adopters.

Oh man. I'm reading this thread and thinking the Z7 looks so great but I'm not deep enough down this rabbit hole to drop $700 on a pair of phones yet. But I'm going to Japan in November and if I see them for $515, well, that's just about the right price to lure me in.

So is the original author comparing the Z7's sound with enjoying sex?!?! LOL

LMAO...I saw this and was surprised some eagle eyed head-fi'er didn't point it out sooner.  It doesn't take much to make me laugh...

Hm, the price estimates are very competative, I'm feeling a bit excited about these. It will be interesting to hear read the reviews as they come in.

well the w3000anv looks pretty damn n shaped in the fr chart posted over at the pirates site. i can only comment on the w3000anv stock which i hear as mid-centric with noticeable bass roll-off. i happen to like the delicate highs tho.

Oh duh pad rolls

Or maybe DIY the other included cable to terminate it with a different balanced end.  If you don't mind the shorter length?

I can't sodder so ditch that idea

At least a general consensus is known for those cans but they can be better. .
My w3000anv with AlphaPads that I owned was more balanced and superior sounding than the LCD-X with both running off a GS-X MKII amp.
But with stock pads, they are more mid centric as you say although I would not say truly "n" shaped signature.
Anyway comparisons are good and it would be nice to hear how the new Sony is to the ma900..

We need comparisons to another unit that is known.
Random positive opinions is expected but don't have a basis to compare to yet are still appreciated and better than nothing.
Anyone care to post more initial impressions?

Good point I forgot all about the Alpha Pads, the J$ Money did the same thing to my w1000x. made it rather U Shapped. Which on something as warm as the 3000 ANV might be a step forward

back to the MDR Z7, I'm wondering what pads might kill some of that warmth
