Dude from some Russian forum got this pictures yesterday from his "asian friend". According that friend, new headphones are closed, with 70mm drivers.
 
I dunno, the headphones looks like at least semi-open to me.

My Z7 and Kimber's stretched my wallet to it's limits, so I definitely won't be getting on the MDR-Z1R train, or whatever Sony ends up calling it. I could never justify to the wife spending $3000 (

If the MDR-Z1R is $3000 then barring winning the lottery I will just continue to enjoy my Z7...

yep and more affordable and i bet for 20KHz more than the Z7, just my 2 cents, last time i tried them on a department store they had the biggest soundstage for headphones i ever heard
