I owned the Sony MDR-Z1R for a few weeks- sold it, was disappointed with sound.

Bloated bass, zingy treble. Thick sounding? Hard to describe.

And I sold the Aeons because I wanted more oomph and slam and the Z1r offers that, however on the Aeon thread the impression is that they have perfect bass. Well not for me

In sound demo I notic the harsh in high range. that strange.

My unit never sound like that.

I have both. Z1R and mojo. And to me, they don't pair as well as they should. The Z1R seems a little overly bloated with the mojo. The Z1R pairs very very well with the Sony's own PHA3.

with mojo being a little warm it may be too much of a good thing?

I wonder if a different batch had problems of some sort. I'm not hearing any zingy treble at all.

Good luck with that....I'm betting they shelve that altogether so as to not create another firestorm. Hopefully I am wrong.
