How to uninstall this?

If you wish to return to the stock 1.10 official firmware for A40, just go on and install it. That's it.

Thanks for your reply.

Above is what I read on the MrWalkman page, so I am really confused. Do I apply the stock revert package (and which is the correct package), or do I install the original stock firmware from Sony?
What can possibly go wrong if I make the wrong choice?

Apply the stock revert package that you downloaded together with the installer custom firmware. Run that and then run stock Sony firmware if you like. If you don’t do this, you can brick your device.

I have only installed one package, which is the Unofficial Stock Firmware Update (NW-A50 stock firmware for NW-A40). It was a single file, no stock revert package included with it.

I still don't understand, what is the stock revert package that you have mentioned?

Sorry if I appear to be really dumb.

A50 has functions that A40 doesn't, so this is a port of the A50 firmware to the A40 player.

I think it's pretty clear - there's no mention in the FAQ of a Stock Revert package for this firmware, because it's not needed.

If there would be such a package, you'd find it in the same .ZIP as the installer.

So I just install the stock Sony NW A45 firmware and my player is back to stock. Then I can install the Walkmare One firmware?

You can do whatever you want.

I use my NW-A55 with a USB DAC when I'm home, so I can use some more power hungry headphones. I was using a Fiio Q1 Mk. II for a bit, and was pretty happy with it, but the connection was a little sketchy (I have a WM-Port to USB-C, which had to covert to Micro USB for the Q1, and it was an old Q1 I picked up for cheap, so the port was a little sloppy). I just recently got a Fiio Q3, thinking it would be pretty similar, but with USB-C, and I found it has a very annoying issue: the beginnings of songs get cut-off, unless you're listening to an album and the songs plays immediately after another song. Supposedly it's some kind of power saving feature, but it also happens when there's a bit-rate change. It doesn't happen with the Q1 Mk II, so worst case I go back to that, but I was curious if there's a workaround.

Anyway, has anyone else run into this and found a solution? I heard on PCs you can add a little pre-gap, but Fiio's drivers help there as well. I guess I could always slap a smidge of silence on the opening tracks of some favorite albums. Or I could cut the Fiio out of the equation and finally buy a WM1A

Well, I got the wm1am2, and sadly I don't have my hardware modded 1a by my side to A/B compare, but what I can say is that I think that the wm1am2's biggest advantage of android is being able to use neutron app.

The dsp and processing prowess of that app is insane, ability to use 8 channels, 64bit processing, etc etc.

To me the stock sony app sounds like 2-4 channels using upmix, while 8 channels without upmix is substantially more accurate in imaging and staging.

I do wonder if something like that is possible for the next mrwalkman firmware, forcing the sony to use 8 channels like in neutron instead of 4 (which is my guess to it's native usage) or disabling upmix (another guess)

I did notice I don't use the wm1am2 quite as much as I did with the wm1a, not sure why. I pick it up for a few songs and then I'm done with it, usually with the wm1a once picked u it was hard to put down.

wm1am2 in my opinion it sounds less engaging despite the larger stage and better details vs 1A
enough say that I sold it and stayed with the Ak120 tyt :)
