I'm lucky enough to have a local audio store that carries the newest high end iems/daps so I get to try them out.Seen where people have sold out a good working setup to fund the latest new "thing" only to be brutally disappointed and that's harsh. Like you if you have a sound, you like stick with it, can still engage with the community. If you keep chasing the "Grail" it's a never-ending spiral and is what it is, a game of diminishing returns.
Admittedly we're blessed with the Sony Linux based DAP's as they have such tremendous flexibility versus many others where your locked in & locked out. Sadly, Sony Corp decided to go with the latter, so no sale here...
Q-6
Yes they are nice, not all, but some high end ones do represent a substantial upgrade vs the daps/iems mentioned on this thread imo. But if you've never heard them, you won't miss them
I've been tempted once or twice by a certain set, but ultimately a lot of the newer high end releases are disappointing imo. About 1 in 5 actually sound outstanding.
Still, good to know how high the proverbial ceiling is. Any of you had the chance to go to an audio meet/can jam recently?
