Stupid out of toppic question... you guys notice huge benefit in when you run your iem in balanced vs SIngle ended even when the iem arent balanced i notice a huge increase in mid power and overall a better presentation what you guys think?
Why do you find 3.5mm better at times?

Plus V1 consumes a lot more battery though around 20-25% more compared to stock

Yes. And also the different DAC option removes a lot of redundant and unused processes from running in the Walkman, like the noise cancelling stuff etc. That attributes to the battery saving as well.

For sources that have a single ended and a balanced output, generally the manufacturers seem to implement and pay more attention to the balanced output. I mean, they need to differentiate something to sell balanced cables and sources right?

For balanced sources, generally they give a bit more power and some driver types like planars and single DD scale better with more power. But those multi driver BA types with high sensitivity, actually they don't really improve much even with balanced connections.

Just bagged a new wm1a for £700 after lurking this thread for a while, really excited to try the custom firmware.
I have a mac though, I understand that won't work with the install? I can just use a friends windows PC if so.
Will feed you guys back comparisons with the mojo, dragonfly cobalt and AK380 when ive had some time with it.

SIG=3, REG=MX3, PMV=2, DIM=0
Killer combination with this on my 1A. Goosebumps all over. Surreal and intimate.

Don't miss the instructions on how to change the sound signature and then to apply the corresponding tuning after restarting the player!

WIlldo my good man! Excited to see the results of your work.
By the way, I tried the ZX507 a while back and it was useless due to the EU volume cap, does anyone know if i'll have similar woes with the wm1a?

No such woes with the Linux based players as the volume cap can be removed via a simple tool.

Yes, and with Walkman One firmware the volume cap just doesn't exist.

It sounds simpler and with more relaxed mids... not so loud
I totally agree though I myself don’t really have any IEMs at this point to utilize that response character.............I have found that to be true also!

That is a fascinating thing, that every once in a while hear about a member doing. Basically you matching amp character and choosing the personality that is best suited for your IEM. It seems the WM1A/1Z has an offering that is always available in a slightly different response depending on needs. Cheers!

There is a strong chance I’m doing something wrong. I’ll work on it tonight. I’ve got the firmware installed properly but based on the sound I’m getting and compared to my other inexpensive dap I need to go back and review the instructions again.
