I was thinking about that. I saw someone still had a FiiO L27 for sale that I could use with a FiiO Q1 MkII, I think. Is that going to be any better than just 3.5mm to 3.5mm to the Q1 MkII line in?

Also, since this is the software thread, does anyone know how to add unsynced lyrics to songs? I heard you can create a separate file for synced lyrics, but I was wondering if I could just show all the lyrics when I hit "Display Lyrics". Don't know if they'd all fit on the screen in a reasonable font size, though.

This is my setup with the A55 (the cable has since been replaced by the Fiio L27)

This of course means that the DA conversion happens in the Q1mk2, instead of using the Sony's built-in processing. Better or worse? idk.

Few months with WM1A, I find the Bright/DMP Z1 does better for me.

Wm1z has better bass, but for some reason the decay of each note is noticeably longer than the bright tuning.
Not to mention it does give you some piercing treble from time to time.

Bright tuning does sacrifice the bass by a little bit, but it gives faster decay and makes the separation better.

And honestly, region E is so underrated.
I go with V1 (since sometimes I use Bluetooth), and DAC initialization and it gives really good note definition yet it also reduces the sibilance.
Region E has the best imaging in my opinion.

However, I almost never turned on the Gain Mode (notepad) since it won't work while the high gain (settings) is turned on.

I use Beyerdynamic Xelento and it really complement my main IEM.

I did find someone who had that FiiO L27 for sale, but they're in Europe and I'm in the US, and they want like 50€ to ship it. Is there any other source for these kinds of cables?

EDIT: Does the official Sony WM-Port to female USB work for this? I just saw one for an...okay price.

Download VirtualBox or VMware Player for free. Then download Windows 11 and install it without a license, it will be crippled but will allow you to run the RockBox tool or MrWalkman's installer.

For me Bright is the best tuning. It's not close.
WM1Z sounds congested and overly rich in comparison.

I have a modded 1A, with all the Nayparm mods + a few extra ones :)

Wholeheartedly agree, maybe it also because I use a really warm IEM so bright complement it better.

But still, I've tested it countless hours with different IEM and always go back to Bright tuning.

Anyway, I always curious, how it compare the stock vs the hardware modded one?

The modded 1A isn't even the same DAP.
Dynamics, resolution, Timbre, stage depth and width, it plays on a different level.
Every electrolytic capacitor is double bypassed (polymer and foil)and internal cables are a mix of SilverGold and copper foil.

Nayparm mods are money well spent.

I use Planars and I still find the DMP tuning to be the better tuning.

I used the WMC-NWH10 for a few years before and it worked great with any amp or DAC. Bear in mind though it just outputs the raw sound without any sound processing or firmware dependant tuning. I used it with a FiiO K5 Pro. So you need another USB male to whatever connector your DAC uses.

I am using the wm1z sound setting on my modded 1a but will try Bright , with CEV for start (then maybe go MX3/E)

so many choices.

Does that line out adapter work well?

That's weird - my A55 has no issues recognizing the Fiio L27 cable running the mr walkman firmware. On the A35 with mrwalkman fw the cable doesn't work, though.

ETA - it could be also a Fiio thing. I connect to the Fiio Q1mk2, but it's possible that non-Fiio DACs won't work. No idea why.
