Yeah I mean it does have enough volume level if that's what you mean. Just my experience with what I thought was a pretty standard set of headphones the Beyerdynamic TYGR300R, which I mistakenly thought was 96dB/mW (according to official spec) but google shows me DIYAudioheaven spec is 93dB/mW (I assume this was measured?).

I get enough volume but with the Beyerdynamic I am running the A55 (factory firmware) with custom EQ at 80~86/120 volume and I don't consider myself to listen particularly loud, just pretty average I listening level I think. So it works perfectly fine, I just feel like I am wringing the output on the A55 (not too much left for headroom?).

Edit: I also should mention I am not using the dynamic normalizer, or any kind of gain corrections on files. So there is should be no reduction in gain from that aspect.

Quite possible, I only use iems and all my iems get plenty of volume but the IER-Z1R I would say is not optimally driven but still enjoyable enough

IER-Z1R is showing as 103dB/mW according to Sony. So together with better isolation (due to IEM's) than my Semi-open back Over-ears I gotta say you must at least be having a better experience than me power wise.

One thing I mistakenly assumed though was, that with higher up Beyerdynamic would be some models with lower sensitivity. Turns out it's not the case, Beyerdynamic DT1990 and T1/T5 are all 100~102dB/mW (official spec). I guess TYGR300R is just on the harder-to-drive end regardless of price/line-up.

WM1Z with Bright Tuning on J3 and the 7hz timeless is seriously impressive

While I really loved the warm sounds of the WM1Z tuning, the bright tuning really impresses me with how well the imaging works here. Instruments really separate, especially left and right

V2 or original? V2 sounds much different, bass is really tight. Did you turn on the alternate DAC?

anyone else notice how with beep sound "on," the gain setting on the settings file determines the volume of the beep? kinda strange how that works hahaha

I don’t know how many steps the Walkmen do but they certainly do play mqa and claim to do so at hires spec and they are all listed as compatible and certified devices on the mqa site

You just put mqa encoded flac files on the player just like any other local files

MQA gets decoded by software and plays internally at 352.8/384 kHz regardless of the original sample rate.

Based on the definition by Mr Walkman, I say it's a yes.

First unfold usually only 2x, resulting 96 kHz
Second unfold either 4x or 8x, in this case since resulting frequency is 384 khz, it is 4x.

Both happens inside the device, so it is a full encoder device.

This album I have plays at 352.8 kHZ. I also have some that plays at 96 kHZ.
