I accidentally turned back from Plus to classic (rebooted with the hold off). I didn’t realize it but I did think “these headphones sound flat”. Thinking that I was just acclimating to the sound of my Z1R.
Then I realized what happened, turned on Plus again. It makes a huge difference. It’s not just in my head. I mean it is but it isn’t.
I just like a little more punch in my music so plus is good for me. The other issue for me right now is that I’m stuck with the unbalanced cable due to my MMCX problem detailed in another thread.
Plus ups the ante but at the expense of 20-25% higher battery consumption. Some like classic and some like Plus (but might not find it worth the extra battery consumption) so you have to try it all and find where your sweet spot is

Been really digging Dawn (Plus) on J region this afternoon. Still surprised I seem to prefer J over E (which came stock on my WM1A), based on descriptions I've read of both regions' sound characteristics.
Roots, locked in a loop with this one. Toyah, if you saw her live in the day you'd know...
WM1A handles all this and far more with ease thx to CFW, only a more powerful R2R DAP exceeds....
Mine are the same in that order though I only use Midnight. However plus mode and high gain together produces a strange reverb on a few recordings that go away on Classic mode. No problem with Plus on normal gain
It has been such a fun experience to have all this different FW to play with. I've also now combined my 1Z with the Cayin C9 amplifier, which provides 4 different timbres (2 solid state and 2 tube), so the choice of sound signatures is incredibly varied for portable equipment.

Classic yes, Plus not so much as their are odd reverb issues with some albums, especially 70's rock where the intimacy of the vocals gets smeared. Midnight the treble is dialled back too much. Never tiring, yet fails to fully engage, switching to region E helps a lot, region J never offends yet becomes dull as the treble is rolled off and the dynamics reduced.
FEv2 does not have any such downsides as far as I'm aware and switching the WM1A from J to E becomes electrifying as the dynamics really open up across the entire spectrum.
