I had reverted all the way back to stock, and all I can say is that Sony should be knocking on @MrWalkman door offering him a job - it is almost laughable how far the mods have pushed the lowly 1A - stock sounds so thin, bright and has pretty much zero soundstage in comparison to what is now available.

It is crazy what potential was laying in the palm of my hands the whole time!

I also have P6 and I enjoy my DMP-1A (Romi Backgated Modded) / DMP-1Z (Stock) as much as my P6!

I bought mine second hand, I just wanted to try this unique R-2R dac, but yes, it is nice however amp section is the weak link. I feel if you had a unit, you can enhance their FW to the level of what this DAP deserve to be.
This dap relies on DPS chip, and I feel it is not optimized.

First impression on my 1A is much deeper bass with texture and a more holographic soundstage, and the presentation is so effortless and authoritative!
Will try it out in more details on my 1Z later tonight.

I might just buy a second WM1Z just to keep it in stock sound and have my 1A and 1Z as my super mini DAPs! A 700,000 yen discount sounds great in my book! Wow!!

I bought mine used and when I get another 1Z next year, it’ll be used. They can go for as low as 160,000 yen. So I’ll wait for my tax return. Better to be financially smart with this hobby. I can now say that buying the DMP-Z1 may not be the best move for me now even tho I can afford it. So I can say I’m lucky to be in this position. Very lucky. Wow Punk Music sounds so good!
