Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model

I love Walkmans I always have faith in sony's research and development. But honestly in this day and age a corporation like Sony should be making a smart phone as capable as the zx2 (sound quality) for a competitive price to the iPhone 6s+ or cheaper
The masses refuse to own let alone carry around 2 devices especially if they do almost the same thing. And there's no marketing at all for anything from them besides the PlayStation and OCCASIONALLY a television

better sound than the a10?

If you ask is the sound of the Z1 better than the A10, the sure yes it is. And by a large margin.

Might be worth keeping an eye on amazon's used section.  At the weekend I saw one on there for around £298!   The fulfilled by amazon ones (I suspect returns) generally hover around the £350-400 mark now.

Despite EU models with volume caps It will make me think twice about a Japanese model next time as to get fixed now back in Japan might cost more than it's worth but I will be phoning Sony up next week to find out route to getting fixed by Sony Japan and cost as my dad got no joy from the UK Sony service team on this subject.

Next time, make sure to buy it at the Sony store Ginza and ask for an oversea model/tourist model if available. Those are sold in the duty free area and have worldwide waranty

Use the official NWH10 cable and the ZX1 music app. I do this with a Mojo works fine. I found that 3rd party apps such as Neutron didn't work.

I'm having battery issues with my ZX1. The indicator doesn't seem to match with the actual battery level and it's shutting down due to critical battery before it reaches 0%.

anyone of you using zx1 with a hifiman HE560? How it the volume, I have heard the zx1 has very low volume. I will mostly use it with an amp, but will be nice to just plug and play with the zx1 :)

There's a trick to disable the volume cap, if yours is capped. Without it, the volume shouldn't be a problem.

Actually Im planing to buy one, seller says its the Jap version without the volume cap. HE560 whispers when I connect them to my old walkman A845 without an amp.

I have a non EU zx1 and the volume was still pretty low. I recently stumbled upon the technique of disabling the sound enhancements to increase the volume by about 10%. Is this the trick you are referring to? It worked pretty well, and the sound quality seems to have improved as well becoming more dynamic.
