Sorry for my english,after i read all this pages i ordered
a japanese version of this player due the eu voume cap.
I am from Romania and i want to ask u if you know where i can find ultimate firmware.
I tried on sony jp with google but is very bad translation.

I think you can just update the unit using the update setting through android.

I can't really comment, I don't have the ZX1, but I'm getting the ZX2 and I have the XBA 3, EX600 with EX1000 cable and EX800ST with EX1000 cable.
I've tried the Z5 although it does have the ear hook, they just seem too big, and still fall out of my ears, and I'm not too fond of the sound from my initial hearing.

omg! it is verry expencive!
If i can afford i will by Calyn x,Cowon p1 or i will wait for fiio x7.

With the album art downloading which app to use.

I downloaded a couple and although they grab the art from the Web. It doesn't update in the Sony music player.

Do we know which one surely works.

Using the Sony built in audio player the files themselves need the album art embedded into each file for them to be displayed.
I was using Poweramp and this software only needs one copy of the art work per folder in jpg/png format to work. This had the advantage
of the overall file size being smaller and offered the user more storage space. You need a computer to place a copy of the artwork in each
folder if using Poweramp/equivalent or embed each file with such if using the stock Sony player.

Poweramp is a media Audio player, when you want to listen to music you use this player/app instead of the Sony.

Your Nas is simply storage you need to use a third party software/computer to embed files or simply place the album art in each abum folder if using Poweramp/equivalent.

Better to use mp3tag and use usb to place/send music on your ZX1.
 
You do not need to format the ZX1 at all, leave as it is.
