SONY NWZ-A10 Series

I am an NWZ-A15 newbie. I don't like iTunes at all. I am looking for an alternative that I can use on my iMac to use to transfer music in Flac format and playlists to my Sony player. I would appreciate some help
Sony offers content transfer for. Mac

The a15 is on my wishlist but i am still in doubt as there is a EU volume cap on the device. I would be mainly using it with RHA MA750i and Aurisonics Bravo Harmony. The a15 ticks almost all of my boxes except for the EU volume cap.

Actually, the volume cap on EU version is no longer a problem!

I changed a few days ago my EU Sony NWZ-A15 to International version with the new tool for Linux based Sony DAP!

As it's quite easy to do, you just need a few minutes to have the job done:

while the little thing confirms the changes, and I can obviously get lost with a Chinese or Japanese default UI if I so chose to pick those destination codes, the maxed out voltage on HO and LO stays the same on my euro A15.
not that it would make a world of difference to go from 0.35v to 0.4 or 0.5v.

anybody confirmed a measured(or clearly audible)difference on the euro A10 series?

answering my own question and perhaps helping a few guys:

I suddenly remembered that the last update I had tried a US version of the drivers and it didn't work (it told me it was the wrong model or something like that). got me thinking that maybe this was the answer.
so I used the rockbox command thingy to pick a place that wasn't mine ^_^ https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SonyNWDestTool
then reset settings like they say. the DAP shows that I'm good, but the output doesn't change.

and then I went to get that driver https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=NWZA17&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=download#/downloadTab
it worked and now I have:

0.56V for the HO maxed out unloaded, it was 0.32V before I installed the firmware.
LO didn't change at 0.25V.

ok so I can go almost 5db louder on a device I never push to the max. that's useless. but on the other hand, it really feels good to stick it to that stupid european law.

Anyone got a step by step guide to doing this?

Even the one on their website is too complicated for me!

I'm OK up to and including this bit:

"Get your current destination code and sps setting:
Type the following command, replacing X by the version number of scsitool and H by your drive letter:
Code:
 scsitool-nwz-vX.exe H: dest_tool get
Result example:
Code:
 Model: NWZ-E585 Series: NWZ-E580 Series Destination: CEW2 (103) Sound pressure: 1 (on)

And it looks the same as the result example, but I don't know what to do after that.

how about my last post which is exactly talking about this?
biggrin.gif

after you successfully change the settings, you unplug the sony and in the settings->common settings->reset/format->reset all settings
this should give you the UI you picked.

and to get an actual volume change, I installed the US version of the drivers I linked in the post above.

Without seeming like a complete idiot (probably too late for that), what exactly do I need - is it the Firmware update?  Nothing shows up as an actual 'driver'.

Downloaded the Firmware...strangely, it seems to work through my earphones and makes the sound a lot louder. But with my bluetooth headphones it doesn't tend to make much difference if any - any ideas why that is? It isn't the headphones themselves, as they are much louder when playing music on my phone.

Annoying, since I mostly wear the headphones as ear phones have started to irritate my ear canal and make it itch.
