What's that little rectangle on the first picture of the front down at the right bottom corner?

Maid bands, gotta love Japan.

it's just a matt glass screen protector with the logo cut out.

Something like this sold in china.

Ahhh I didn't see the logo and it threw me off.

here it is, the actual logo is gloss whiles the whole glass is matt, just the angle isn't right so you don't see the logo.

Cool, so I take it the screens still responsive with that matt protector on it, and you know the silver one actually looks good in that pic. Decisions, decisions.

Just like a smartphone, the protector doesn’t affect the touch screen.

just wondering, can anyone describe the sound quality difference between nw-zx100 and nw-zx300?

huge difference. i just auditioned it 2 days ago. the ZX300 is closer to WM1A/Z in sound signature. lots of spatial and unhurried tone and soundstage, it is actually not an upgrade of zx100, but rather a downgrade/simplification of WM1A/Z.
truly a delight. I must sell my ZX100 any time soon.

also, the build of ZX300 is wonderful, matt surface, black panel, touch screen... substantial improvements from ZX100.

Also during the auditioning, may be I found a bug on the EQ settings.

In the setting you can save the preset 1, 2 or 3 for the customised EQ, but there is no place that you can load these preset in the EQ settings after you saved them. I check with the staff and they find the preset can be loaded in the EQ page of A35, but not in WM1 series and ZX300, may be a bug of the Walkman OS?

The above is the EQ screenshot captured from A35, Those EQ preset highlighted are missing on the EQ page of ZX300, so there is no way I can load the saved preset.
Preset EQ you mean "Rock", "Pop" something like that?

Seems high-end Walkman don't have preset EQ
same as WM-1A/Z

The back look fine but the front :scream:

But it has the setting to let you to save preset EQ 1, 2 and 3, but seems not making sense if it does not let you to load the saved presets.

Will try the EQ function if I get the demo unit again

but on WM1A/Z, it also only have EQ 1, 2, 3 on the list
which all are "flat" and user can tune and save it
later click the saved EQ will load the setting, had you tried it?

For those who have your hands on the ZX300 already, how are you finding the ergonomics of the player? I'm wondering if those play/skip buttons could get annoying since they're quite small and close together?

The hardware buttons shouldn't be a problem, you should be concerned about the touch screen, I find it kind of small to use. But they are quite sensitive and smooth unlike the zx2 that I have.

I think the buttons have indents, so you can run your finger over them.

Just thinking if the player is too small for me and maybe I should get the WM1A instead, also since it's on sale and only $300AUD more than the ZX300 at the moment it's a pretty hard decision.

I owned the A35 which was way too small for me to be comfortable with (could never find the right button and kept slipping out of my hands). The ZX300 doesn't look a great deal bigger than the A35 from the pics I've seen. On the other hand the WM1A might be too big since I don't really carry a man purse with me.

It's a shame these players are not more accessible to the general public in certain parts of the world, would love the ability to test them for myself.
