My current (8 year old) player has text. I'm almost certain, but cannot be sure, that my ZX100 (ex) did not have text. It was a British model.

But text<-------------------> back plate. Big big difference in my view.

Yes text is even on the back of 3500 $ AK players. The plate looks stupid, cheap. They could even have a peel off sticker on the back with the relevant info, it would be cheaper and you could just peel it off.

I kind of agree, but also aesthetics are also important, otherwise companies wouldn't spend a dime on developing them ( some even employ expensive design groups ) everybody would just use a rectangular box lol. It helps differentiate the product from competitors. For instance, you see the front with the long unbroken line of the matt glass, then you turn the unit over to see this plate imbeded in the bottom back portion of the back plate and it just breaks up the symmetry. Not a deal breaker but could you imagine a plate like that on back of say an iphone 8 or x?

lol it doesn't bug me as much as the plate, I thought they all had text. Not that it matters much as it will be in the case.Still not sure if the Japan model will really support English in all menus.

I tell you when it comes next week. But its within the unit meant for other regions, i dont expect sort of half-way-done

As much as I would hate to discover my future ZX300 to have a back plate, I don't hate it as much to spend close to 150 euros on top to not have it lol. If the 150 euros extra got me another 64 gb of internal memory, it'd be a different story.

Yes that is a conundrum, 150 bucks premium is a lot, and the jew in me is fighting the ideal profusely. But my desire for the zx300 is strong!

Normally I'm very frugal, and we don't even know for sure if the others will all have the back plate.

When accessoryjack's stock is there, I'll probably ask them to ascertain whether or not there is a back plate. Then again, I'll buy it from them regardless, as their pricing is just too good.

Just toss the leather case on top and you'll never see it.

And it's functional as anti-slip pad.

But why do you want to pay more for a non-functional back plate?

Well earlier someone said that back plate was only going to be on the cheaper HK 'A' model with less memory. IDK it just seems silly Sony would let all those pictures of the backs be inaccurate, especially on official Sony sites. We shall see.
