I noticed a big difference between players when I upgraded from an NWZ-A17 ($299.00) to a ZX-300 ($799.00). However many months later I temporarily bricked my ZX-300 and I had to use my A17 for several days. It was HORRIBLE! Luckily I was soon able to get ZX-300 running again. I could not have tolerated going back to the A17 permanently. I would have had to buy a new one immediately. Funny how it just seemed like a nice little upgrade at first, but in reality it was a HUGE upgrade when you try to go backwards.
I upgraded directly from the A17 to the ZX300 as well. Last night, I pulled out my A17 so I could lend it to a friend. Plugged in Campfire Audio - Cascade to check the sound and it was super bassy. Too bassy. Still has good sound, but night and day difference.

Line out and heaphone out are both analog, the former is typically lower noise and fixed volume. Digital outs include optical, coaxial and USB which can be output to a DAC, which the ZX300 can do (in addition to acting as a DAC, i.e. USB digital in). The term "digital line out' is contradictory...

Well that is a surprise to me. I have been asking everyone since last summer, including calling Sony directly a few times, and you are the first person to ever say that.
So, can the charging cable to be used to connect to any DAC? If not, what cable is required?
Apparently that one doesn't work. Or it doesn't work with the Sony DAP to Chord Mojo. If you look on the FAQ pages, (meaning the first few pages) of the Official Mojo thread, it's there.
That cable works, and I know because I have one. £40 bucks, but I still love it. I think the ZX300 manual actually mentions that cable, or maybe not. However if you search for Sony OTG cable, you will soon enough find that cable.
