Sony NW-ZX300

Hey, I owned a Sony NW-ZX300 for a year and loved it. I liked the fact that it was only a music player and DAC. Lost it the other day, ugh. I went online to purchase a new one, but the stock seems to be low everywhere. I don't want to pick up a used one, as per the warranty.

Though I like the warm Sony house sound, I think I'd like more impact and speed this time through. The Hiby R6 Pro has caught my eye (on Amazon). I know that moving from a dedicated DAP to a Play Store-compatible and wifi-equipped Android DAP will be a different experience. Has anyone here upgraded from a Sony NW-ZX300 to a Hiby R6 Pro and preferred the Hiby? (I did a quick search but didn't dig up anything useful.)

I have no experience with any of the other ~$700-800 players, like the A&K SR15 or the Fiio X7II.

Use the search. Someone posted these exact impressions a couple pages back

Found it, thanks. Unfortunately, that review uses the R6 for comparison, not the R6 Pro. I see a lot of people have requested such a review, so I'll wait for it.

It was pretty nice and detailed! Do you know what you might pick? If any other company offered the same battery life plus apps, I'd switch, but nobody can!

Yes, the battery life of the Sony was so good! And it was so portable! The SoC work Sony did on its insides really paid off.

I'm thinking about getting the R6 Pro through Amazon. If I don't like it, I may just return it and go back to the NW-ZX300.

Recently got one of these, loving it.

Time for a case though. What's the general consensus? Which is the best? I'm thinking leather, like the Miter or Sony cases.
As far as I know, I think I've seen more people with the Miter case, but I have the Sony which personally I prefer more because the flip design protects both sides of the DAP. While the Miter doesn't have a flip design, it does have a stand on the backside if that's your thing. I believe the Miter can be purchased on Amazon, while for the Sony you're probably better off purchasing it off of AccessoryJack as it's sold cheaper there.

Well, this is embarrassing...I found my NW-ZX300 this evening, but it's too late to cancel my (impulsive) Hiby R6 Pro order from Amazon. Guess I'll have a chance to compare them after all.

Protecting both sides of DAP is very important.. That's the weakness in the case of Miter.. Sony's case should be better but plastic holding the DAP doesn't look that secure.. I haven't tried or seen it in real life.. Hmmm ..

From my experience the case looks pretty secure and should keep the DAP inside, so I wouldn't worry about it falling out. Hell it's even a little tricky to intentionally take it out lol
