No worries, i like both versions. I just like the black a bit more.
I can tell, you I have a black, and the coating isn't very good, very easy to scratch, so the silver is probably a better option.

After recently saying it's hard to find reviews of IEM cables. The current issue of HiFi Plus (issue 166) reviewed six cables. (Although most seem for full size headphones.) All the cables were out of the budget range that I was thinking though. (I think HiFi Plus tends to be higher end stuff.) ... £275 for the cheapest cable, which I would stretch to. However the review said that a particular cable, a Chord Company ShawCan, leaned toward a darker presentation. Meaning I think I would give it a miss, even if it was available in my specs which I think it's not. Like balanced for the ZX300 and MMCX.

I am sure my ZX300 is still running in. I remember thinking around about sixty hours that I the ZX300 had done all its improving. Even though everyone seemed to agree that it improves until 200 hours, including Sony. Anyway at 75 hours now I had to agree that it seemed even better than ever. Just more involving, full sounding, and/or more right sounding.

For top cans like the hd800s I won’t bother driving it with anything less than a good desktop amp... to me portable are for.. portable use, I love to use the Sony with my uerr but if I am at home I would use my auralic setup with my Hifiman he500

I mean thats common sense i would suppose.
I wouldnt use my DT1990 pros with the Sony, per say. i'd rather use it with a dedicated dac/amp but its good to know that if i possibly want to use cans that fall between the 32 - 150 ohm range, that i wont be hindered in any way.
as for the HD800S im hoping they could be driven by the zx300 as im assuming Senn would supply a 4.4mm pentacon like they did for the 660S for sony devices.

I, too, won't bother driving the HD800S with the zx300. HD800/HD800S are some of the most picky headphones I have tried when it comes to amplification. Yes, they will produce sound but you won't get their full potential if obviously underpowered.

I'm considering getting a pair of overheads when I'm in Japan next month - has anyone tried the Denon D7200 with the ZX300? Mainly I would use my xDSD to drive them but for occasional use would I be getting a reasonable result with the ZX300's balanced output? The D5200 are also an option.

I am also curious about this. I almost bought a pair of these a few months ago, but I chickened out. Even a good price in Canada is still pretty expensive, but I am curious.

I mean the 7200 is about as easy to power as Apple Earpods so I don't see why not? I mean right? Aren't they rated at like 25-32ohms? The ZX300 should have zero issue with those even out of the SE output.
